Times of refreshing

Are you tired? Feeling drained from that busy week at work or school? Life can be a constant bustle, with so many things calling for your attention. The hours fly by, with meetings to attend to, work to complete, emails to reply, projects to work on. What do you do at the end of a hectic day? Flop down on a coach? Chill out at a bar? Watch tv? Where is God, in the midst of all this? Or is He just shelved in a “To-Do” list that you hope to do when you find time and energy?

I have a friend who spends the end of every day “taking a walk with God”. She will take a nice, slow walk while talking with God all the way. Some might call her crazy, or delusional, but at the end of every walk she returns back, fresh in mind and spirit, no matter how busy her day was. And trust me, her day was REALLY busy.

God not only promises to walk beside you all the time, He also promises to give you rest and peace. He promises to watch over you while you’re sleeping, to give you a reassuring sense of peacefulness that comes with the knowledge that you are safe and protected. When you feel dry and tired inside, thirst for the presence of God – He will fill you again, keep you refreshed, and give you an unbelievable sense of peace.
