The master and his servant shown in American Standard Version

The master and his servant

This parable puts into perspective the view that we should have - one of a servant to God, our Maker.

We need to have a correct view on God’s claims on us, as well as the attitude and spirit in which we make our claims. Our pride keeps us from performing our duties, either because of ignorance or because of the manner that we performed it. God doesn’t require our servitude in order for us to gain acceptance from Him, but He requires obedience in all who are accepted of Him. Christ’s sacrifice is our basis for acceptance. Can we humble ourselves to the level where we do not expect gratitude and thanks for what we’ve ‘given up for Him’? Christ has given up his place in heaven, to come down and die for us, even though we are but His creation. What can we give for Him?

Lk 17:7-10
