A valuable pearl

This parable is used by Jesus to convey the value of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Christ is likened to a pearl in that pearls are mysterious! If you take a look at a pearl, none of them are exactly the same – They all have their own characteristics. And they are precious. Likewise, God has sent many priests, prophets and evangelists, but only one as a Redeemer. To obtain such the rare pearls, the merchant had to search for it diligently, then sacrifice everything he had for the possession of the pearl. Since no one can merit the possession of Christ, are we willing to renounce ourselves and give our very lives up on order to gain that precious pearl? But what do we gain from this? Christ promises to fulfill us in every way. He will meet the needs of our soul. In our ignorance, He gives us knowledge and wisdom. In our nakedness, He will clothe us. In our hunger, Christ is the bread of life that satisfies us. In our guilt, Christ is our pardon. In our ungodliness, Christ is our Redeemer. Christ also promises to meet our Christian desires for peace, joy and holiness, and rewards us with eternal salvation!
