The Arrest, Trial and Crucifixion of Jesus shown in American Standard Version

The Arrest, Trial and Crucifixion of Jesus

Here, the story is told of how Judas led the mob to arrest Jesus and kissed Him on the cheek as a sign of betrayal. Jesus was then arrested, and led away to be tried and later crucified.

Jesus was betrayed by His disciple – one that he taught, loved and cared for since he chose the 12. What was the reason given for his crucifixion? On what basis did they crucify him? Well, the Bible reports that the priests had started plotting to kill Jesus since a long time back, but did not carry it out due to the popularity that Jesus had been receiving. Nothing provoked greater anger among the Jews than acts that perceived defilements of the temple. Jesus broke many customs and traditions that the Jews had started to regard as rituals. Instead, he looked at the heart. He healed on the Sabbath, forgave sins and said that he was the Messiah. When they tried Jesus, though, the primary crime he was accused of was blasphemy.
